A PC designed with green planet at heart

There are many of us that constantly use the box in front of us and the very fact that you are reading this means that you are pretty much someone who spends a chunk of his time surfing the net and using your PC. But not many of us (and shamefully, that includes me too) are all that conscious about the energy we waste sometimes by leaving our system on even when it is not necessary. It is not so much about whether you can pay the bills or not, but the fact remains that you are wasting precious energy and leaving carbon footprint behind that is totally useless.

This modular PC was designed with Mother Earth in mind by design graduate Ben Chase and it really is something that could change the way the big companies look at producing their PCs. The sustainable PC runs Windows, consumes just 27-watts of power and has “upgradable components that slide out without the need for tools.” According to Mr. Chase, he has crafted a 95% working prototype and it will surely be not too far away when he brings out something that is ready to hit the stores, or so one hopes.

There is plenty that the major firms could learn from this and many of them are indeed trying to go green but with little success. Surely most often it is the price that is a turn off and a dampener, but if you can be wise enough about the marketing then it is not all that hard to sell the green idea!
