Brenda Guyton gives birth to wild life out of e-waste
Deepa | Aug 23 2008

Think twice before chucking your old, outdated desktop or worn computer part as it will simply contribute to elevate the rising heaps of e-waste. Instead, ship them to Brenda Guyton, who breathes new life into them. Having a liking for computers as well as lizards and insects, she gives shape to her wild-geeky passion by creating unique works of sculpture constructed from computer parts. Ingeniously illustrating the fusion of biological life and machine life, she intends to raise questions about your green future.

Taking a look at her award-winning creations, Jack the jack rabbit has a nose the that is made from a computer monitor coil, and his toes are made from a hard disk drive and a floppy drive. For $2,800, he is “alert and ready to thump the ground in warning.” And for the same price, K-9 is a good dog standing over his bowl of yummy computer parts. His nose made from a radar detector. A cross between an iguana and an alligator, the Iguanagator is six feet long and has a distinctive head that started life as a Diablo daisywheel printer. He is a bit reasonable for $1,200.

Working from her garage-turned-studio, Brenda is assisted by her husband too. Most of the material is supplied by her good friends, but if you are interested in contributing to the cause, at present she is seeking small circuit boards—like the kind that come in clock radios and remote controls.

This way too cool!!
what an innovative idea, kudos to Brenda Guyton

I loved the e-waste pet, K-9 (canine), the best of the lot!

This is truly awesome... a new form of modern art!!! The creatures look great.
And loved the way you have described creature parts....like, never thought hard disk can become paws lol

I too am zapped at the way people can come up with such mind-blowing art sculptures out of waste......in this case e-waste!

Also worth noting is the amount of dedication to follow their passion!
