Cate Blanchett ‘greenovates’ her Sydney mansion
Nishi Roy | Dec 7 2007

Oscar-winning actor Cate Blanchett and her playwright husband, Andrew Upton, are forking out approximately $1.5 million in renovating their existing Hunters Hill home to a more environmentally friendly one.

Some of the new features which will be added to the existing home include grey water recycling, a 20,000-litre water tank, solar paneling and energy saving lights. No rainforest timber will be used in the construction of the house, only natural materials like plywood and veneers will be used.

Apparently because of their extensive green-renovation plans the celebrity couple along with their children Dashiell and Roman have moved to a nearby place.

Palm Beach-based Lesiuk Architects (specialists in environmentally themed projects) are overseeing most of the renovation process.
Way to go Cate, I hope more Hollywood celebrities take a cue from you and try to do their little bit to lower their carbon footprints.
