Coke To Recycle Its Own Consumer Waste
Lakshmi | Oct 3 2007

Coca Cola - the cola giant, has announced that it is going to invest more than 30 million pounds in building a PET recycling facility. This is so they can recycle or reuse 100% of its plastic bottles in the United States.

The facility is to be constructed in coalition with United Resource Recovery Corporation. It is expected to be functional by the year 2009. Also, Coca Cola are stepping up their ties with kerbside collection organisations such as RecycleBank. This comes after Coke made public, plans for eco apparel made from recycled PET, with environmental based slogans ‘I’m wearing post-consumer waste, ‘My white t-shirt is green‘ and ‘My Bag is Green‘.

Seeing a strong corporate organisation makes tries to deal with the consumer waste it produces, especially plastics has made environmentalists happy. Whether or not this works, time will only tell!
