David Gardener’s Packaging Lamp: Packing is a part of the product!

There are plenty of products that come to us with packaging that often occupies more space than the product itself and most often the packaging is useless until we are either relocating and in case of many products it is not possible even then. Packaging forms a bulk of the waste each year and it seems that many of us actually believe that it is indeed good for nothing. But that is not true according to designer David Gardner who has crafted wonderful accessories from nothing but packaging material.

The Packaging Lamp by David Gardener, for example, turns into the lamp when opened. The packaging hides the bulb, wires, and plug, but when you flip the two pieces around they form a cardboard lamp. I’m not sure how many pieces of furniture you’d want made out of pulp cardboard, but this is a really clever way to ensure that there’s no waste whatsoever with your product. This is a wonderful way of both honing your creative skills and making sure that the trash bin is not filled to the brim.

We have seen in the past that packaging material for iPod Nano has been used to make speakers for the iPod with a few elements added to it. This also does a great job in a way that is similar!
