Eco Architecture: Cross-Wind Bridge generates wind energy from moving cars

Eco Factor: Bridge designed to harness wind energy from the movement of cars passing under it.

Designers Tiago Barros and Jorge Pereira have come up with a bridge design that will be used by bikers and pedestrians as a safe way to cross the road. Called Cross-Wind Bridge, the design will harvest wind energy from the movement of cars passing under it.

Running a length of 40m, the bridge carries a network of 2188 lightweight rotating panels, which rotate with wind to generate electricity, which then powers the bridge’s illumination systems after dark. The designers believe that cars passing under the bridge will increase wind velocity by up to 20%, optimizing the rotation of the panels.

I think this is really a amazing idea by the designer by making this sterling bridge. By this bridge the accident ratio will decrease and people will safe while driving their vehicle on this bridge. This is really a supersede idea man.
