EcoFactor: Eco-friendly housing solution for the future.
Using the advanced techniques of airoponics, which helps grow plants without soil, various scientists from the USA and Israel have decided to create tree abodes for the future. The whole project is being supported by Plantware, and the first prototype home could be ready in just 10 years. They have already experimented in creating bus shelters, park benches and traffic lights from their unique growing techniques.
These homes will be constructed from actual tree roots to any design specification and will come equipped with a host of eco-friendly features such as solar panels and wind harvesting fans. The self-sufficient dwellings will draw power from clean energy sources and recycle human waste into valuable nutrients for the living trees. With this you can expect to have reduced heating bills, because when the deciduous trees shed the leaves, these homes will have more heat. And in the summer, the leaves will provide shade and shelter. A very smart and practical “green” concept.
The Dark Side:
The fact that scientists are digging so many methods to go green is worth commending. I love this idea, and that should sum up the fact that I fail to see any real downside to this concept. This brilliant idea is very refreshing and will definitely go a long way!
This tree house looks very vulnerable. I doubt the scientist will be able to actually out it by ten years time. the concept of growing trees as houses and that too without using water sounds absurd, but with technological advances maybe all this will b possible.
Trust me Radhika, this is not a fake! The airoponic system is real and has many advantages and with modifications a house can be constructed. I stumbled across some pictures of this home made airoponics system this dude made. Aero is supposed to be the best method around now day’s wild-growers. It lets the roots stay in constant contact with the air and keeps them wet at the same time.

Nithya I had read about this some time back. The whole thing is like science fiction. Making park benches etc is cool, but making houses, I am not sure.
Also, personally I dislike any idea where we play around with nature. Here we are modifying the natural growth of trees to make dwelling for ourselves... it may be green but for me, its bad karma :)

What gives you the impression that this concept is going against the nature? I think it’s the best housing idea I have heard in a long time! Do you have any clue about the amount of pollution that can be reduced through this system? The dependence of renewable energy will also go down drastically, isn’t something like this we’ve always been looking for?
hi NIthya, sorry for my late reply. Was tied up last week. The Airoponic technique sounds exciting but as I have said, I feel we humans should not interfere with the way nature works. I checked the links you have given me and also to Radhika, but need to get more details. Will keep looking for more in this and revert back.
Hindu scriptures prohibit sleeping under a tree during night. I am trying to search for their reasoning and post the link, if possible.

This seems like a great idea to me. I think something like is will help us learn to work with nature to secure for ourselves a better future and world to live. We shoulr interact with nature as much as we can and find new ways to keep this beautiful world clean.
