EcoFactor: Solar powered motorcycle
The idea of using solar panels to charge up a vehicle sounds fascinating, doesn’t it? Well, Jim Corning with the help of his wife’s Ninja 250 did just that! I love the 250cc Kawasaki Ninja, and he has managed to modify it into an unusual looking two-wheeler, powered by a lithium-ion battery that draws energy from four 800-watt solar panels and has a speed of 70mph and a range of 50 miles. The front portion looks all right, but the back of the bike looks like there’s a huge ugly box attached to it. I am not a big fan of the way it looks, but more and more bikes turning eco-friendly is certainly a good effort, put forward by a bunch of eco-sensitive people.
The Dark Side:
Anything that uses free energy from the sun is good, but the product’s reliance on renewable energy also needs to have an appeal among the buyers. The whole invention loses it purpose if it fails to capture an audience. Unfortunately, this one fails on that count miserably because of its shoddy looks.
