Eco Cars: CityAnts – Concept car developed for a congested future

Eco Factor: Compact car for two gets powered by electric hub motors.

The increase in the number of cars on the road has tempted car designers to develop concepts which are small, efficient, fast and green. CityAnts is one such car that has been designed for the urban roads of tomorrow. Designed specifically for rental services, the car would be available on a self-service basis much like city bicycles. Users would go to a car station, pick up their ride, drive to their destination and leave the car at a nearby station.

The car would be able to carry at most 2 passengers and some luggage. A custom trailer would also be available for additional space requirements. The cars would recharge at their stations when they are not in use, so that they could always be kept ready for a drive.

The Dark Side:

The cars would be powered by electric hub motors and their batteries would be recharged at their stations. A busy day in such a scenario would mean that all the cars would be on road and a second trip might not be possible.
