Eco Factor: Zero-emission race car powered by electricity.

The Swiss Show of Renewable Energy and New Technologies, Energissima, is expected to host some cool new ways to generate power and keep your carbon footprint minimal. Green GT has started it all with an all-electric race car capable of hitting a speed of 170 mph using two water-cooled 100KW electric motors.

The electric motors are powered by two 30KWh lithium ion polymer battery packs, resting on a FIA-spec carbon chassis. The motors are stated to provide 1,475 lb ft torque up to 100 mph, decreasing to 590 lb ft until it tops out at 170mph. Despite the weight of the battery bank, the car manages to keep its gross weight down to 1,896 pounds. The company has also integrated solar panels on each side, which are more of a display item without much practical use.

This is one very promising car that they have here. Hopefully there will be more cars like these in the future. Also, that their maintenance and parts are as affordable as volkswagen passat parts.
