Eco Cars: Jay Leno’s EcoJet in action

Eco Factor: The car runs on biodiesel-powered engine.

Jay Leno, who had promised to put his biodiesel-burning EcoJet concept on the road, made another appearance with his fully functioning car at Supercar Sunday Euro Meet held this past Sunday in Village Coffee Roaster in Woodland Hills, California.

If you don’t remember, then let me remind you that EcoJet runs on a biodiesel powered Honeywell jet turbine with 650 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Chassis design is derived from Corvette Z06 and carbon fiber and Kevlar are used as construction material for rest of the body.

The concept was earlier introduced at 2006 SEMA Show and now it’s almost ready to hit the real roads. Have a look at the video given below to witness the car in action.

That almost looked like a deadhead symbol in the grill. I had to look closer to see it was different. The front is spectacular but the back looks like the batmobile.
