Eco Gadget: Fulwood mini desktop goes on an energy saving diet
Deepa | Sep 24 2008

Eco Factor: An energy saving desktop that packs in the most sought-after, cannot-do-without features.

As I go through my routine of surfing the net and penning down a few lines on what’s hot and green, my desktop criminally gorges on the energy to keep the show running for me. If only I could save up to buy Fulwood, a less greedy mini desktop. Coming from Very PC, this Mac Mini-sized desktop computer feeds on a frugal diet 16 watts only when idle. Though it feeds on less energy, trust this green desktop to serve you with all the very best features that you’d expect from any well-known brands on the shelves.

Sporting a ranging price tag of £868 to £1104 ($1,600 - $2,000), this nifty eco-friendly system packs in an Intel P9500 2.53GHz dual core CPU with a 2GB RAM. Audio-video indulgence is boosted with an Intel x4500HD graphics card and surround sound audio.

The Dark Side:
If only the makers could do more green by using recyclable or biodegradable casing.

Thanks for the informative post Deepa.
The chip makers are working hard on coming up with new chips packed with more power but which consumes lesser energy... so in coming years we can hope to buy our PC’s that would also be consuming much less power.

Yes the future of the geeks does promise to be green :) at least when we see such gadgets surfacing on the shelves.
