Eco Factor: Low-cost LED light bulbs for flood and spot lights.

Apart from being energy-efficient, LED light bulbs aren’t as popular in the market as competing CFLs are. The reason is the high cost of LED light bulbs, which when compared to the energy they save, can recoup the investment in about 4 years. Using a breakthrough design Eternaleds Inc., has tried to reduce the cost of LED light bulbs by as much as 40%.

The use of the metal that acts as heat sink increases the cost of LED light bulbs. Eternaleds Inc, on the other hand has followed a completely different approach, they’ve reduced the amount of metal used by 40% and relied on a plastic body that increases airflow, which helps keep the bulb cool.

The company claims that priced at $54.99 the Quanta-9 9W light bulb and the $99.99 Quanta-18 18W light bulb can recoup their cost in just two years, while operating 8 hours each day. The bulbs are rated at 35,000 hours, which if used 8 hours each day will last for 12 years.
