Eco Gadgets: Light Spot – Solar power for shimmering LEDs
Madan | Jun 2 2009

Eco Factor: Energy efficient LEDs powered by solar energy.

LEDs are seen as a potential solution for energy savings. If researchers are looking to develop more efficient LEDs, then on the other hand, designers are preparing designs for LED lighting systems. An example of this blending can be given to the “Light Spot” designed by German designer Felix Stark.

The system is a sort of sticker that is totally made up of a foil composed of solar cells. It charges itself in the daytime when its button cells are exposed to sunlight and at night it provides light using energy harnessed from sun. These units can be installed as flashlights to indicate exit or escape routes and fire exits etc.
