Eco Tech: BP Solar teams with SolarEdge to make PV installations efficient

Eco Factor: New products designed to help solar modules generate more output to be made available.

Generating renewable energy using solar panels would definitely reduce your carbon footprint. However, the reduction shows its effects on your pocket because firstly the panels are expensive and secondly their output isn’t as much as you would really want. BP Solar is trying to reduce the cost of solar energy not by making the panels cheap, but by developing devices which increase the output of the panels and reduce losses commonly associated with PV arrays. The company has announced a partnership with SolarEdge to develop products that help PV modules become effective and efficient.

The company states that losses due to problems such as shading, dust and a problem in any one panel in an array accounts to a total power reduction of as much as 20%. While solar companies have not succeeded in reducing the cost of panels by much, reducing these losses seems the need of the hour. The team is expected to soon test new products that should help reduce the cost of solar energy by making the panels more efficient.
