Eco Factor:
Home heating system produces has smaller carbon-footprint.

The freewatt home heating system ensures that your comfort doesn’t disturb the environment. Manufactured by ECR, this product is an excellent green solution to your home heating problems. The Micro-CHP technology and an Energy Star-rated, high-efficiency gas furnace work in collaboration. A Honda generator can generate 1.2 kilowatts of electricity, which creates heat to be recycled to heat the home afterward. Depending on the user, the electricity can either be used to power the home or can be sold back to the grid.

The yearly production of the freewatt is about 5,000 kilowatts, with a reduction in carbon footprint by up to 6,000 pounds. The system sounds quite valuable for next-generation homes that strive to get LEED certification.

The Dark Side: Micro-CHP technology is aptly recognized by EPA as one of two technologies designated as a Climate Choice technology. However, just a reduced amount of emissions is not enough. The next generation asks for zero carbon footprint.
