Eco Tech: Free solar energy station could be the newest way to advertise

Eco Factor: Renewable energy gadget-charging station.

Carrying solar chargers for your complete electronic gear is not possible. Technology has made us mobile so users do want charging stations at different places in a city so that they are never away from power. Electricity for these stations can be generated in various ways, however, the greener the source is the better the charging station is for the environment.

Jonathan Globerson has designed an innovative solar charging station that could provide green and free electricity for all users to charge their portable electronic gear. The body of the charging station is designed to be made from retreated bamboo to have minimal impact on the environment. The system depends on sponsorships by various advertisers who want to participate in this green mission.

The Dark Side:

The system looks too complicated, as finding advertisers to sponsor for these charging stations might get a bit tricky.

Neat idea. But what life span is this going to have before it’s obsolete? LG and Samsung for example are starting to make solar powered mobiles for example.

I think that it’s all a matter of location. Outside of a student union or a coffee shop. Or, if the panel is mounted outside while the outlet is inside, an airport terminal, rail station, or inside the union and coffee shop.

Great idea, I’d love to be able to charge my laptop while waiting for my flight or between classes.
