Eco Factor: LED traffic lights save electricity.
Sustainability and energy efficiency are major concerns today. The green trend is reaching new heights day by day in every field. More and more ways are coming out to sustain eco-friendly behavior. Saving energy is one of the best ways to contribute toward energy conservation. Designer Stanislav Katz has put forth an improved design for the traffic lights. Traffic lights need electricity around the clock.
The new design uses LEDs that require less energy as compared to normal lights. Only green and red lights are incorporated and the yellow signal can be produced by illuminating both lights simultaneously. The concept is practical in every sense and along with energy efficiency, it’s easy to manufacture them.
The Dark Side: There isn’t any major drawback in the design. Rather, it will be great in every aspect to replace normal traffic lights with LED lights.

This is an incredibly bad design. No civilised country in the world will ever use a traffic light with a colour changing light. And rightly so. You need three lights for safety. Some 10% of the population is colour blind, which is exactly the reason why there are three lights, always in the same order.
If ”killing people” isn’t a Dark Side, then I don’t know what is.
Does ANYONE think things through anymore? This is an AWFUL idea. I rely on the three-light traffic signal to see when to go and when to stop because I am COLOR BLIND. I can’t tell the difference between Green and Red, which is the most common iteration of colorblindness in the United States. This is even worse than those awful horizontal lights... it’s a real rush when you pull up to an intersection and aren’t sure if it’s green or red, but the roads are dangerous enough - we don’t need hundreds of thousands of drivers nationwide having to rely on a passenger to tell them if they should stop or go.
These are almost psychedelic...
