Eco Factor: Visitor capsules of the London Eye to be made energy efficient.

Merlin Entertainments Group, the owner of the London Eye, has announced that the visitor’s capsules of the London Eye will get a £12.5m makeover, which will make them energy-efficient and hence green. The heating and ventilation systems of the capsules will be replaced with more energy-efficient systems.

Apart from the change in the heating and ventilation systems, the capsules will also get ceiling-mounted TV screens and better Wi-Fi connections. The owner stated that the capsules will be replaced one at a time to make sure that they don’t lose many visitors. The London Eye has received more than 33 million visitors since it opened in 2000. The upgrade will commence soon and should be completed by 2012.
