Madan | Jun 5 2009

Eco Factor: New Photovoltaic installation is expected to reduce the annual electric cost of District by 40%.

Orchard School District, serving nearly 1,000 students and the communities of northern San Jose and Santa Clara County, has recently collaborated with Blach Construction for the installation of a solar photovoltaic project. The project includes installation of a new photovoltaic system that will provide renewable energy to the whole campus and the community along with providing an opportunity to educate the students, staff and the community about the sustainability related topics.

The PV system is expected to reduce the annual electric cost of District by as much as 40%. The savings will then be invested in other educational expenses. A nominal installation of 240KW photovoltaic systems has been planned in the first phase of the project, which is expected to start in the month of June this year.
