Escama - Adding To The Eco-friendly Trend
C.S. | Nov 1 2007

Gone are the days when fashion meant spend thrift. The trendy stuffs these days use cheap or affordable material. Eco-friendly trinkets are the in thing now. Escama, based in San Francisco, works in association with two Brazilian cooperatives. Their latest product is a hand-bag made from recycled aluminum pull-tabs. The design has incorporated an attractive crochet work with pull-tabs that gives it a very unique look with a flawless finish. Crochet being a trademark to Brazilian designer products, this bag has become popular hands down. These 100% post-consumer recycled pull tabs are not purchased from the factories. The designers who have also proved to be environmentally conscious earn 7 to 15 times Brazil’s national minimum wage; they sure deserve more than that. Escama also donates 3% of their gross sales back to the cooperatives. These bags are made in various shapes and sizes to suit different needs and the price ranges from $35 to $250.
