Irani | Aug 29 2006

A 500-watt fuel cell powered an unmanned aerial vehicle, flying it, to make it the first such vehicle to be flown by proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell using compressed hydrogen. Researchers at Georgia Institute of Technology have conducted it successful flights of the 22-foot wingspan aerial vehicle.

Unlike the micro UAVs, Georgia Tech’s demonstrator vehicle operates like a full-sized aircraft! It requires no auxiliary batteries or boosters for take-off.
