First fuel cell mobile phone promises to double talk time, battery life
Irani | Jan 18 2008

From clean power production in hospitals, universities and large office buildings, the fuel cell system is here to spell its magic at minuscule levels – this time in enhancing mobile phones’ battery life – perhaps one of the most used gadgets these days. With its inventive innovation, the Canadian firm Angstrom Power trials a fuel cell system in a Motorola SLVR L7, that effectively not only doubled talk time, but also the overall battery life in mobile phones.

Importantly, their fuel system can fit inside a phone without any modification. To generate and power a mobile, the Micro Hydrogen platform uses new fuel cell architecture, micro-fluidics and a refillable hydrogen storage tank. It is as early as 2010; you can get the technology built in your phone, although Angstrom has yet to work on its logistics.
