Spanish Engineers working on World's first Electric UAV

With every development, looks like technology is growing in congruence with eco-friendly resolution. The high competition also demands innovation and uniqueness which is met by incorporating eco-friendly alternatives. On those lines, Spain’s National Institute of Aerospace Technology has developed the first airplane-helicopter hybrid called HADA.

HADA is expected to ensure high efficiency flight and consumes only one-third of the amount of fuel normally consumed by conventional air-crafts. I’m not sure if I should call this an air-plane or helicopter because it takes-off and lands vertically like a helicopter but its got wings and flies like an airplane. The project leader Manuel Mulero, claims that though it is designed to fly unmanned, it can also be manned. What exactly is this hybrid helicopter for? Well, it can carry instruments to capture pictures, transmit them in real time, to transport goods – it can carry a load of upto 150 kg. It can also act as flying coast guard and monitor the borders for security.
