Hospitals Going Green
Irani | Mar 10 2006

This concept is really innovative - marrying concerns for health and environment. The University of Michigan Medical Center and Henry Ford Health System have initiated to go green at their newly planned hospitals. Hospitals being designed to be environmentally friendly are a part of the trend that is quickly gaining ground in the health care industry.

The hospitals are seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the Washington-based U.S. Green Building Council - which is more than just planting a few trees or using less paper. It is a coalition of builders, architects, government agencies and nonprofit groups. In brief, the idea is to minimize environmental impact inside and outside of buildings.
