Leftover Turkey Fat powers Texas's Bio-diesel Cars!
Irani | Nov 29 2006

As the concerns for health-crisis, especially obesity, are increasing across the world, so is for the environment suffering from global warming led mostly by car emissions containing greenhouse gases.

How would it be, if both the concerns are brought together and a solution is derived out of another’s cause?

This is what the city of Plano north of Dallas did on the Thanksgiving Day when the world is partying with deep fried turkey. The Plano City workers collected the bird fat from residents for use in the bio-fuels industry, rather then leaving it to head for the landfill and rot, polluting the surrounding air.

They donate the turkey fat to Biodiesel Industries — the first renewable energy-powered plant - that lead to producing bio-diesel fuel in the state of Texas.
