With the rising gas prices, governments across the world are waking up to the need for having non-petroleum based mass transportation systems in place. And since the quality and popularity of any public transportation system is effectively judged by its ability to move passengers at faster speeds, the Maglev Train effectively becomes the first choice. In a bill passes earlier this month, a proposed route from Disneyland to Vegas was cleared to permanently have the levitated train. Propelled, and guided by electromagnetic forces, the Maglev Train can reach speeds of up to 300 mph and the fast eco-friendly train is being seen as the future of American transport.

Very good news from environment point of view. And also good to see the Russians doing something new after a long time. Being a huge nation, their actions are going have tremendous impact on earth. They enjoyed technological leadership post WWII. Hope they show it once again for the sake of the planet.
