La Maison de Demain - A Green Prefab
C.S. | Nov 15 2007

When I say modern homes, what hits our thought is a huge bungalow with marble flooring, expensive leather couches, modular kitchen, ornate lights etc and all of us sure know it would cost a fortune.

The pictures that you see are that of a modern home featuring none of the above. Its an out-and-out eco-friendly, green home that uses no electricity but you can see from the pictures that the lightings are awesome.

The construction has been carried out with FSC-certified wood and siding, green label paints, low-VOC recycled carpet tiles, LED lighting, low-flow toilet, reinforced insulation, and photovoltaic panels. There is an open area in the middle for some natural environment that is also part of the home making it all the more greener. The tops of the blocks on either side of the oper area is covered with lawn and the green plants around the home looks like an inplication of what the home is - green. The solar panels do the energy job requiring no electricity. The totally attractive look might give you a wrong impression of its cost but it is pretty affordable, atleast cheaper than what it would have cost to build a conventional modern home of this design.
