New Catalyst that removes hazardous perchlorate From Groundwater!
Irani | Sep 18 2006

Now, hydrogen gas will help remove and destroy harmful perchlorate — a dangerous thyroid-function disrupting contaminant — contaminated groundwater efficiently.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign scientists have developed a new chemical catalyst that uses hydrogen to effectively get groundwater water rid of perchlorate — found in solid-rocket fuel, roadside flares and fireworks.

Perchlorate exposures affect infants and fetuses particularly. So, this finding would bring a great relief for the world suffering from water-borne disease - especially suffering from such diseases, whose source is unknown - and can get their groundwater rid of this hazardous chemical safely before use.
