Since rooftops have been the most ignored element of many buildings, Brooklyn architects Solid Objectives - Idenburg Liu have expertly designed a rooftop landscape to showcase green roof technologies on an industrial building in Queens, New York. A company that specializes in green rook systems, Garden City Roofs, intends to convert the unused roof of a large industrial building into a showroom and knowledge-center. Dubbed as the Sunnyside Up, this project has nothing to do with the way you eat your eggs but it definitely intends to feed those hungry for some fresh green eco-architecture.
Once a manufacturing unit, this complex now houses a gym and billiards hall. But with the idea of creating an atmosphere akin to working under a tree (with little division between in- and outside), the future of this structure seems to more bright and green.
A 200-square-foot pavilion sits between the gardens, for information and display of materials.
The allotments for the different roof-systems on display can be reached by a pathway connecting entrance and a deck, which is used for educational purposes.
Estimated at a budget of $40,000, Sunnyside Up aims to see sunlight by next year.

This concept of ”Green roofs” should be encouraged, spl in industrial areas. These places hardly have any green spots around and each industrial estates have large unused roof tops. I like this idea.
Yeah makes sense...especially in the wast industrial areas. Will help combat pollution levels too.
Right.. and if you have ever been to any industrial zones, you will know how dry and boring they are... this greens will add life to the whole place too.
