Toyota’s Fuel Cell Vehicle Runs on Single Fuel for 480 miles
Anshu | Sep 29 2007

Recently, Toyota Motor Corp has released its advanced fuel cell vehicle. On Friday, it has successfully completed its test run. Thus, it has proved to run longer distance as compare to the current model.

This brand new model has successfully completed a distance of 480 miles which is double as compare to the earlier model of Toyota on single fuelling. In the development of non-gas-emission vehicles, Toyota was competing with General Motor Corp. But, restricted driving distance was the major hurdle in this project.

In year 2002, Toyota was the first ti attain government approval for making fuel cell vehicles in Japan. It is surely a big achievement in itself. There is considerable reduction of electricity consumption from the equipment installed.

During the recent road test, the fuel cell vehicle keeps running for 350 miles from Osaka to Tokyo on single fueling and approximately 30 percent of fuel was unused. These fuel cell cars are undoubtedly the best alternative to make environment pollution free, as they run from electricity. This electricity is being generated with chemical reaction between oxygen and hydrogen. Toyota is also planning for further enhancement in driving distance and durability.
